ABSA Cape Epic Diabetes
We all are here for the greater good but we need to apply ourselves to do bigger things than we ever thought possible. I was always looking for somewhere a difference could be made and shortly before my 21st birthday that thing came knocking, type I diabetes. What a game changer that was...
I am now 33 and in 2013, Lukas van Kasterop and myself, will be taking part as team SugaRush in The ABSA Cape Epic, considered the 'Tour de France' of mountain biking, the main difference being that the Cape Epic allows Joe Public to compete in one of the worlds' biggest sporting events. A great opportunity therefore exists to bring awareness to social issues on a national and global stage. I would like to use this event to support the Cure Diabetes Now fund at Mass General that directly supports the Faustman Lab. Their research targets the root cause of diabetes, the immune system, and focus on drugs used for the treatment of TB as a treatment for diabetes. Any contribution to these efforts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
